Wat phra singh A visit to Wat Phra Singh gives you an insightful glimpse into Lanna temple art and architecture. Hailed as one of the two most venerated temples in Chiang Mai alongside Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, this 14th-century Buddhist temple houses a number of classic Lanna style buildings and very old Buddha images. This is where the heart and culture of Chiang Mai is embodied with its heritage temples, Lanna style houses, bustling markets, delicious food and charming boutique hotels. It's a walking city so you could explore almost everything and anything comfortably by foot or you could rent a motorbike, ride a Tuk Tuk or mini-bus. It is a major Buddhist temple complex originally built in 1345 by King Phayu and has since gone several restorations and maintenance throughout times. Two of its most popular and stunning buildings are the Golden Pagoda and the main temple which enthrones the Golden Buddha statue. The temple gets its name from the Lions or Singh guarding the complex. The main temple is by the main road just behind a statue of the Golden Monk on a small round about rotunda.

Ploen ruedee night market The Ploen Ruedee Night Market is an excellent destination for eating and shopping in Chiang Mai. It’s set up like a food park where dozens of stalls and vendors serve up mouth-watering local and international treats. This marketplace is a gastronomic festival, lined with shops preparing everything from Thai street foods to Italian pizza. The live music, bright lights, pubs, crowds and shopping stalls only heighten the carnivalesque atmosphere this place offers. You cannot miss visiting the main shopping center of the city – Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. Even if you are not in any mood to shop, do visit this lively market with hundreds of vendors and an absolute flood of products for sale. It is a different kind of experience altogether.
